Rhys works with pen and ink, specifically fineliners, creating images from direct life observation. His intricate linework evokes an intriguing atmosphere around peculiarly orchestrated objects, which are rendered to a high level of realism.
Imbuing inanimate items with an emotive tenor is at the core of his work. Each piece has its own carefully considered interrelating logic, but with headroom for the viewer to overlay various interpretations of meaning.
Born in Luton in 1982, Rhys’ art pursuit has evolved through various mediums following the attainment of an BA (Hons) Fine Art degree in 2006.
His drawings have been displayed at various art galleries, most notably the prestigious Royal West of England Academy in Bristol and the Mall Galleries in London.
